CO2 emission reduced by 5% from 2010 to 2011

6/20/2012 12:00 AM

In Nilfisk-Advance we have an overall target of reducing our CO2 emission by 5% annually. We are therefore proud to announce, that the level of CO2 emission generated by our electreicity consumption has gone down 5% from 2010 to 2011.

In Nilfisk-Advance, we see environmental sustainability as an element of sound business practice. If we as a company can reduce our consumption of resources it will benefit the environment and looking at the cost perspective there will be a positive impact, hence benefitting our customers and our company economically.

We therefore monitor and submit detailed figures on energy consumption and CO2 emissions deriving from our company every quarter to ensure we work actively to reduce internal energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions.

Decline in electricity consumption and CO2 emission

There are several explanations to the decline in electricity consumption and CO2 emission in the last year.

  • Production facilities have worked with initiatives to save on electricity e.g. to turn off lights in low traffic areas and segregate lighting in production halls
  • Production lines have been moved to assembly facilities with low usage of electricity, e.g. because of glass ceilings and better daylight conditions
  • Heavy electricity using IT equipment has been changed and moved to less electricity consuming technology

Furthermore, we also have to acknowledge that it has been a relatively mild winter in parts of the world.

An important step ahead

We consider above result of 5% less CO2 emission from electricity an important step stone on our path to becoming an even more sustainable company.
